Figma In The File - Token & Multibrands

Talk with Thierry Charbonnel and Figma

The goal was to consolidate multiple design systems into a single source of truth while ensuring seamless integration with Angular technology. Our focus was on design tokens, Figma variables, and scalability.

As part of a two-year initiative, Thierry Charbonel and I managed the new version of Neo 3, tackling challenges in multi-branding, design tokens, and Figma variables. Our mission was to unify components from different design systems into a single, flexible framework that could scale across brands while maintaining technical consistency. We built the system around semantic design tokens, ensuring adaptability and long-term scalability. Our approach caught the attention of Figma, leading to a video call where they observed our methodology and were particularly impressed by our multi-brand strategy and token architecture. This recognition gave us the opportunity to present our work in a Figma-hosted talk, “Figma in the File,” where we shared insights into how we structured our design tokens and optimized the system for efficiency.

Through close collaboration, Thierry Charbonel and I successfully established a consolidated, future-proof design system that balances consistency and flexibility across brands. By leveraging semantic design tokens and a well-structured approach to Figma variables, we created a scalable foundation that supports both designers and developers. The recognition from Figma reinforced the impact of our work, demonstrating how a strategic approach to multi-brand design systems can drive efficiency and innovation at scale.
